04-FMCA Sunsets Saguaros, March 2022

We left the Yuma area headed for the rally in Tucson fairly early as it was just over 200 miles to brother Larry’s house, which was an opportunity to see Larry and his family before heading out the next day to the rally. With this just being an overnight stop, we wanted to arrive as early as possible to be able to visit.

The following morning saw us on the road by 6:30am so that our arrival would be as early as possible at the rally. Pulling into the fairgrounds at around 8am made us the 1st entering rig of the day. The parking group got us to our parking location, and we got ourselves setup. We were without power until about 3pm as everything was running off generators, and they wanted a good load before they would start them. After setting up, we wandered over and checked things out and basically just messed around for the rest of the day. Following are my journal entries for the event. We were at this location from March 20th through March the 26th.

3/20/22

Drive down from Larry's leaving at around 6:30am. Got in and parked, Cindy did some laundry, walked Chloe a bit, watched some basketball, supper at Tucson Mexican restaurant. Will see how this get-together goes, hopefully fun after all the money we spent for it.

3/21/22

Cindy went cleaning nuts today, so just tried my best to stay out of her way. Linda and I had our driving meeting for the carts, and in true FMCA fashion they treated all of us like 6-year-olds. It was enjoyable watching rigs coming in, Cindy also took me grocery shopping as well as doing more laundry. Lunch at cantina here on the grounds. Took Chloe out for a few walks and also put the new Treagar grill together. Our new mifi seems to work really well.

3/22/22

Started the day with Chloe walk. Then off to mentor training followed by first timer walk about. Seasoned the new Traeger grill and cooked burger n hot dogs for dinner on it. The night's entertainment was the "Rock Bottom Boys". They were funny and energetic and played good music. The real fun starts tomorrow with seminars and all the rest of the fun.

3/23/22

So did seminars throughout the day. Did the evening entertainment, which was the surfer group, and they were quite good. Jerry, Marie and Michael swung by to check things out.

3/24/22

It was a bit warmer today, not quite as windy as it has been. Did coffee and donuts, followed by running the seminar circuit. A quick lunch as well as dinner at the Cantina and the evening entertainment at the park. Today was the ladies' luncheon day so while they had their lunch met with Tony of Stressless Camping and had a few beers with our lunch.

3/25/2022

Started our day at the coffee and donuts hour and then went on to the seminar on the FMCA benefits. Did the seminar on how to find Boondocking spots and then lunch at the Cantina. Today was the ice cream social, and we helped with the full-timer chapter to hand out that ice cream. Drove cart for the evening entertainment for the main event, entertainment fellow sucked. With Cindy washing her hair every day and showering every other day, plus myself, we've gone completely through our water and had to bring in 6 gallons to get through the night. Guess that shows how easy it is to be a water whore.

3/26/22

Driving the morning shift today, which ran from 7:30a to 10a. Tomorrow is moving day up to Dad's so did prepacking. Ended up with a cart that had a flat tire so took it over to the area where the carts are kept, left it there and that ended my shift. Smoked a fatty with bacon wrap very good but better without the bacon. AZFMCA chapter get together at the cantina and then music, which was way better than last night's group. Weather quite warm with a high of 90.
