While at this location, our friends, Janet and Kolin came out to visit, as well as to check out the big tent. And sister-in-law Linda spent a few months with us here as well. With Linda along, we went out and enjoyed mini evenings of bingo as well as different music events. ? We were able to enjoy a wonderful Valentine’s Day supper at the QIA?, which also featured live entertainment. By staying at the spot, it also made it close for us to be able to go to the grand design rally, which was held in the Roadrunner area.
We came to the Quartzsite area after a brief pause in Yuma to go over to Mexico for a few meds, as well as seeing Cindy’s brother Jerry and his wife Marie. We also were able to pick up our LTVA pass while in the Yuma area.

We headed up to the Quartzsite area and originally landed in the Roadrunner 14 day area so that we could disconnect the trailer and use the pickup to explore around the LTVA areas in an attempt to determine where we wanted to land for the season. Our choice for where to stay turned out to be the area just North of Roadrunner on the LTVA area just past the gas pipeline road. This turned out to be a great spot as we had no neighbors close to us and yet easy access to the highway.
That easy access to the highway allowed us to be able to come and go easily to get out and see the sights. From here we were able to go into the big tent show in town as well as check out many of the other activities that were going on at the time. ? Another plus of this location was that it made it extremely easy for us to give directions to friends and family to find us.
Our other good friends Nancy and Kurt of Black Canyon City fame also joined us down here to enjoy the beauty and fun of this desert area. As you will see by watching the video attached to this article, the sunrise and sunset pictures that are available to see are absolutely stunning. One of the big downfalls to the area is the ever present wind. It can howl at huge gust levels, which we experienced by the destruction of our clam shelter.
Quartzsite offers all the basic amenities that a person needs for everyday living. You will find a couple of laundromats, 2 different small grocery stores, plus a Dollar General, a Family Dollar store and multiple places to dump tanks plus get fresh water. There are also multiple locations to fill your propane tanks. You will also find a variety of small restaurants plus a couple of large chain coke and pukes: i.e. McDonald's, BK, and Carl’s Jr.
The LTVA permit, which is $40 for two weeks or the seasonal pass at $180: good from Sept 15 to April 15, gets you access to the camping areas plus trash, water and dump. Proving to be a good value. Also, there is a local company licensed by the BLM to come out to your rig and pump your tanks for a fee. This year, he was charging $50 for this service. He also offers fresh water delivery, but Cindy couldn’t bring herself to have fresh water from a poop pumper truck. Because of that, we used our water bladder to bring fresh water to the trailer. During our 2 plus months in the area, we never had to move the trailer during our stay here. We really enjoyed our stay here and will definitely be coming back next year.
