Lathrop State Park is Colorado's oldest and thus first state park. It's located just west of Walsenburg Colorado. Itis surrounded with views of mountain vistas for a persons viewing pleasure. There is one area with electric and one area without any electric. Which ever side you stay in you have access to potable water plus a dump station. There are also 2 lakes and a golf course with pro shop located in the park. The lakes have concrete walking paths around them and bicycles are allowed. The golf course restaurant has pretty decent food and a reasonable selection of alcoholic beverages with reasonable prices.
Arrived safely from Alamosa CO, checked in, dumped and filled with water then setup in our spot. Got a beer after setup and catching n breath before doing some walking. Gorgeous area!!
Went to golf course restaurant and had supper. Did a drive around the lake area, then returned to our spot and kicked back for the rest of the day.
So we started the day off with some breakfast and Cindy did some housecleaning and I did some Chloe walking. Then we attempted to take a walk down by the lake and lo and behold the wind was so horrid you couldn't even keep a hat on your head, so we decided to turn around and came back to the trailer. Watched the boob tube, then we when into Walsenburg and picked up some adult beverages and some dinner. Came back to the camper and enjoyed our supper and watched movies on the tube.
Today was another day of extreme winds, that caused us to stay at the trailer throughout the day. We did some movie watching, we did some surfing on the Internet, just basically a day of not getting anything accomplished due to the high winds. Tomorrow's forecast is for much lower winds, so hopefully we will be able to get out and enjoy some of the day. We did have to go down to the ranger station and purchase our parking passes for these last three days at the park.
Today was a gorgeous day temperature wise and wind wise. We started the morning off with breakfast and followed that up with a bike ride around the lake for a total of about 6.1 miles. Sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Took the pickup and drove over to the golf course restaurant and had lunch. Met and chatted with the couple across from us, Mike and Beth. Did the propane fire ring in the evening and Mike and Beth came over and chatted with us. Watched some YouTube videos to finish off the day.
Another gorgeous day here at Lathrop State Park. After breakfast of eggs, sausage, toast and coffee, we headed out to walk around the lake. Did good, except Cindy had her physical challenges with her back and such. I think Chloe enjoyed the walk. So it was just over a 3-mile walk from the trailer down around the lake and back to the trailer. Very enjoyable and great to see so many folks out enjoying the lake, as well as how many folks were walking and bike riding.
When we got back, Mike and Beth were packing up, so we got a chance to say goodbyes before they headed out. Finished putting together video from pictures taken at Rio del Norte National Monument and got it uploaded to our rumble account. Brats, sauerkraut and beans for supper. Finished the evening sitting out with the propane fire ring. Tomorrow is moving day to Colorado Springs, so made an early night of it.
